That 'Carpe Diem' Glow

SO, your probably wondering "whats with the picture of her planner"... I promise its relevant.  I have this sign in my bedroom that I bought at Marshalls last year and it reflects something I've really been making a serious attempt at changing on a daily basis.

Do you ever feel like your just going through the motions and each day is so routine and just not worth getting out of bed for? I used to feel that way, every day in fact I didn't wanna get out of bed and when I did it was because I had to and not because I wanted to or because life excited me. So this year I made a promise to myself that I would make my life full and make it mine.

I vowed to work hard and get up early. Enjoy my coffee instead of drinking it just to wake up. I did a little more exercising and watched a lot less television. I reactivated my library card and rented a few old movies. Bought concert tickets, tried new restaurants and put together new outfits and listened to new music. The result: happiness. I mean utter relaxation. I was busy sure but I valued my downtime more and started having things to talk about and became less interested in Facebook and more interested in the people around me. I was more thoughtful and my memory was better.

So my challenge to you is to buy a planner ( if you don't already own one.) I suggest Lilly Pulitzer or Kate Spade.  And fill it up, I mean plan things, call old friends and meet for lunch. Find a cool new bar that plays live music. Find something vintage at a rummage sale to call your own. DO IT!

Feel that? Thats the glow that you get from seizing your day. Carpe diem didn't become a common phrase for no reason. There isn't any amount makeup in the world that can make you look as beautiful as you do when you have a full heart. It's worth it and you'll thank me later.

Weekend Fashion Inspiration

Lately I've been dressing so "preppy" or conservative for work that sitting on Pinterest this morning after work, I was being drawn to the more relaxed weekend styles. I never really believed in titling your style, (read: preppy, boho). I enjoy being able to switch it up and dress how I feel. However, this makes a a difficult task for anyone trying to buy me a gift because they can't quite pinpoint my style. I guess it still has some refining to do, after all thats what your twenties are for, right?

Anyways I thought I would share with you some of this things I've been vibing with this beautiful Saturday afternoon.....

See! So prefectly relaxed yet put together... doesn't it just make you wanna get lost down some hipster city streets.... maybe buy fresh flowers for no reason.

Oh, and I just love a good weekend braid... I mean I love an anytime kinda braid but theres just something better and more fun about a 'weekend' braid. I love this updo one below.. sort of messy but a perfect construction of its elements.

I figure this sudden attraction for relaxed styles is probably my style trying to hang on to summer these are the styles that I miss the most during th colder months. The days where a flowy tank top and old cutoffs just FEEL so right.

I've said this before and I'll say it again Summer is the Blake Lively of seasons. Sort of perfectly messy but oh-so-gorg. It's kind of that less is more look that Blake always effortlessly pulls of.

Anyways,  guess my phrase for the weekend is "perfectly imperfect." So excuse me while I put on my most relaxed but perfectly Blake-like outfit and do what feels right.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, XOXO-Jessica

A Whole New World

Reading blogs has always been an obsession of mine. I always thought it was so neat how people could share their thoughts and write about their lives all while putting their own daily spin on it. I thought maybe it was my turn to give it a whirl.

Let me start by introducing myself. I'm Jessica  and I am a 20 something college student. I wanted to create a place where I could share my inspiration and expand my world. I want to keep the subject line open to anything, but I especially love anything beauty and fashion related...if my bank account could tell you it would.  I just recently started working at a bank but I was a bartender/ server for two years before that. My favorite color is green with a splash of pink. I like new notebooks, nail polish and Vogue. I like to think I'm really organized but I can never keep it that way for long.

I love anything vintage and/or on sale, my black lab Teagan, and I hoard lipstick...actually just makeup and skincare products for that matter.
